Seaweed Innovation Lab Open House

Join us for an open house exploring the exciting world of seaweed innovation at CARTI. Open to everyone, visitors will enjoy tours of the Seaweed Innovation Lab, seaweed art activities, seaweed snacks, and a behind the scenes look at how young seaweed is grown in the lab, while meeting the researchers and students behind the work.

Join North Island College's Centre for Applied Research, Technology and Innovation for a special seaweed-themed evening at Seaweed Cinema at the Tidemark Theatre on Wednesday, June 3, as part of Ocean Week Campbell River.

Enjoy a unique coastal experience featuring Beach Fire Brewing’s seaweed sour ale, complimentary popcorn with a variety of specialty seaweed toppings, and community partners showcasing their work with seaweed, all topped off by a curated selection of films highlighting kelp reforestation and inspiring seaweed stories.

Ken Forde Park Beach Cleanup

Come out to help keep our beautiful beaches here in Campbell River clean! Registration is not needed and supplies will be provided.

Ocean Serenity: Watercolour and Mindfulness Workshop

Thurs, June 4

Ocean Serenity is a guided workshop that combines mindfulness and watercolour painting to help participants relax while connecting creatively with ocean themes.

Lucilla Girotto, a Certified Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Master Practitioner and experienced watercolour enthusiast, leads the session with a focus on stress reduction and accessible, inclusive creative practice.

Birding Basics at Baikie Island Nature Reserve

Join facilitators from the Discovery Passage Aquarium and Campbell River Art Gallery for a LIVE NUDIBRANCHS DRAWING SESSION to celebrate OCEAN WEEK!
Other local marine species will also be available for observational drawing in the gallery.

Bring your art supplies, sketch books and curiosity! The facilitators will be available to answer questions about all the remarkable ocean inhabitants in the gallery and offer some drawing tips. Some additional art materials will be available on site.

Remote Beach Cleanup with Campbell River Whale Watching

Join us for a unique remote beach cleanup adventure, accessing hard-to-reach shorelines by zodiac with Campbell River Whale Watching. This 6-hour tour includes hands-on conservation, wildlife viewing, and lunch.

Registration opens closer to the date on the Campbell River Whale Watching website, and capacity is limited.
